The story begins with three witches confronting the accomplished Scottish general, Macbeth, upon his return from a victorious battle against Norway. The King of Scotland, Duncan, decides to award Macbeth the title of the traitorous Cawdor. As Macbeth and another General named Banquo meet the three witches, they prophesy that Macbeth will one day ascend to the throne. Convinced by this prediction, Macbeth plots to assassinate Duncan. His wife supports his scheme. Together, they carry out the murder by smearing Duncan's blood on the daggers of the sleeping guards.

Subsequently, a nobleman named Macduff discovers Duncan's body. Macbeth kills the guards while asserting that their bloodied daggers serve as evidence of their guilt. The crown is then claimed by Macbeth. As more killings unfold, Banquo’s ghost, covered in blood, haunts Macbeth. Lady Macbeth becomes tormented by guilt and envisions her hands stained with blood. Consumed by remorse, she ends her own life. Macduff eventually slays Macbeth, ascending as the new king.
